She has over a decade of experience working within the NHS and charitable sectors. Her professional background includes working with both adults and children facing a wide range of challenges, including mental health and personality disorders, substance misuse, and complex trauma. Julia’s expertise in the forensic sector has equipped her with specialist skills in managing risky behaviours and uncovering the psychological drivers behind them. In her current role, Julia provides consultancy to professionals supporting those who have offended and are at risk of offending. She also works with those who have committed serious offences to help reduce their risk, and to increase awareness of how their history might impact their beliefs about the world, others and themselves.

Julia’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a blend of her clinical experience and formal training, drawing on Schema Therapy, Person-Centred Counselling, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is passionate about creating a reflective and supportive space where individuals can explore their personal histories and make sense of the difficulties they encounter, empowering them to move forward in life.

Julia is especially committed to providing a safe and affirming environment for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. She currently offers appointments online.
