ADVANCED BODY FOCUS 2 giulia bertelli dv X Gnwn Ywe M unsplash

Advanced Body-focused Interventions in Schema Therapy - Self-practice and Supervision, 11-12th March, 2027

Janis Briedis - Consultant Psychologist

This advanced workshop is designed for delegates who have completed Part 1 of the body-focused schema therapy training, along with Part 2, Part 3, or both. It offers a valuable opportunity to consolidate and deepen both theoretical understanding, practical application, and the opportunity to understand nuances of weaving somatic work in schema therapy.

Participants will refine their clinical skills with a focus on working effectively with specific populations, such as CPTSD, PTSD and Personality Disorders. The workshop will place particular emphasis on the nuanced use of somatic interventions in trauma work - exploring how trauma manifests in the body and how to skilfully balance resourcing with processing, when to add somatic interventions to the existing schema therapy interventions, while continuously tracking client's and own body.

Key areas of focus include working with specific early schemas, such as abandonment, mistrust, social isolation and defectiveness/shame, addressing entrenched coping and critical modes and their somatic expressions (including somatisation), somatically reparenting preverbal infant modes, and strengthening the resourced Healthy Adult state.

Throughout the workshop, delegates will have the opportunity to bring case material for discussion as well as explore their own material, fostering a deeper awareness of own schemas and modes, and facilitating easier access to one's own resources. Ample time will be provided for both personal reflection and collaborative work on client material, ensuring a rich, integrative learning experience.
